"BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL," is a large piece measuring 48"x60". The artist's inspiration for this painting was to explore the concept of using black as the primary color. While applying paint to the canvas, the artist decided to incorporate some color in the initial layers. The intention was for these underlying colors to peek through the subsequent layers of various black shades that would cover the canvas.
Around six months ago, the artist came across a YouTube video by another artist who mentioned not using black in their paintings. This reminded the artist of a similar statement made by their art teacher during their studies, advising against the use of pure black. However, due to their love for black and the realization of the diverse range of black tones available, the artist wanted to create a painting or series that focused solely on black.
Although the piece may appear simple due to its predominantly single color, the use of different tones, textures, and finishes adds excitement and interest to the artwork. This piece can hang horizontally or vertically, making a statement and giving a space the drama it may need.
